Somai Kisku

Novelist Somai Kisku was born on 25th February 1959. He was born in Basantpur village under Paratal post office in Burdwan district of West Bengal. His father’s name was Rasiklal Kisku and mother’s name was Phulmani Kisku. But later he settled in Bainchi village (Bagaan Para) under Baiti village post office in Hooghly district.

Educations and Career

Somai Kisku’s early education began at Basantpur Primary School. After that he attended Jamalpur High School up to class VIII and passed Higher Secondary in 1976 from Biharilal Mukherjee Free Institution, Vaitigram. From Haripal Vivekananda Mahavidyalaya Passed B. A. In 1980. Somai’s career started before the side. Joined West Bengal Essential Commodities Supply Corporation in 1979, Government of West Bengal. He has a long commute with Kolkata on business. It is known that Santali associated himself with literature from the latter half of the eighties. He wrote novels, short stories, poems, essays. Somai’s novel can be characterized as a document of time because of the particular period he portrays. Society, culture, human emotions are presented by the artist in his works. Skilled in religious analysis of the Santal race, Somai Kisku tried to bring about religious harmony among the Santals.
